About AFK Journey
AFK Journey is an idle card-based game developed by Shanghai Lilith Interactive Entertainment Co., Ltd. It is also the sequel to AFK Arena and is often referred to as "AFK2". It first entered closed beta testing overseas in September 2022 and launched its global open beta on August 8, 2024.
The game features novel gameplay, combining idle card-based gameplay with a world map for the first time. It retains core gameplay elements such as level sharing, wish lists, and idle leveling, while also streamlining complex operations, enabling equipment sharing and decoupling character leveling from rarity. New elements like unit positioning, terrain, and mechanisms have been added to levels. In terms of the storyline, it follows the overarching world-setting of the AFK Journey series, incorporating classic European historical heroes and Norse mythological creatures. Players will embark on adventures in the world of Isomia.
In the game, heroes are divided into six factions: Lightbearers, Wilders, Maulers, Graveborn, Celestials, and Hypogeans, as well as six classes. Players need to recruit heroes to form teams and use strategic combinations to win in both PVE and PVP battles.
AFK Journey offers a rich variety of gameplay, divided into PVP and PVE. In PVP gameplay, the Arena is the most popular. Players select hero combinations to challenge the defensive line - ups of other players. Wins earn points, while losses deduct points. These points affect the rank, with a total of 19 sub-ranks ranging from Novice 1 to Champion 4. The higher the rank, the more generous the rewards. There is also the Glory Duel, which is a fair Auto Chess-style mode.
PVE gameplay is diverse. The Labyrinth is a roguelike-style expedition mode full of mystery and exploration. The Realm of Reverie is a personal ranking mode with 4 bosses rotating on a cycle. It is an important way for ordinary players to obtain "ascension materials". Players need to carefully select team compositions according to different bosses. For example, when fighting the Abyssal Bone Dragon, a team consisting of Skriath, Ezizh, Lyca, Tasi, and Grezhul can be effective. In addition, there is the Guild Boss Hunt, a guild-ranking-based mode.
