The trailblazing journey in Penocony of 2. x is about to come to a successful conclusion. I think many trailblazers cannot wait to know more new playable characters that will debut in our next destination.
Today, let's take a deep dive into upcoming new and rerun banners from version 2.7 to 3.1 in Honkai Star Rail but keep in mind that all mentioned below are
based on the speculations so take it with a grain of salt.
Banners of Version 2.7
Phase Ⅰ:
New Character: Sunday
Triple Rerun Banner: Ruan Mei + Jingyuan + Jingliu
Phase Ⅱ:
New Character: Fugue
Rerun Banner: Firefly
Sunday who will bring a new "Energy Overflow Mechanic" with him is a must-pull character for hypercarry DPS and teams need energy efficiency, action boosts, and summon coordination. Then it leads to our reasonable speculation: some Main DPS characters who rely on their ultimate to deal damages will get their reruns, like Jingyuan and Jingliu.
Fugue, Tingyun's new form, is leaked to not be a dedicated Break Support, but a strong and versatile supporter for all teams, much like Ruan Mei, by applying debuffs on enemies to reduce their Defenses, although she is still expected to excel in Break teams. Thus, based on her kit now, as a substitute for Ruan Mei, Hoyoverse may make Ruan Mei get her rerun again before Fugue comes out.
As for Firefly's rerun, this is basically accurate considering that both Sunday and Fugue is strong support characters for Firefly and there will be a new Meta DPS in version 3.0.

Banner of Version 3.0&3.1
As all we know, according to current info, there are no signs for version 2.8 so we will directly jump into version 3.0 after version 3.0! In version 3.0, we can expect Aglaea who is leaked as a Lightning DPS with a new summon mechanic following the path of destruction. And then in version 3.1 we will welcome a new form of Herta, Ice Erudition - it's a complete transformation, similar to Dan Heng and Dan Heng IL. In the same version, a new character called Elysia, a girl with pink hair and a body type of loli will get her debut, she is rumored to be lightning destruction, too.
